Our projects
IDEAS FROM EUROPE
Our flagship programme Ideas From Europe (IFE), an initiative by the Sustainable Scale-Up Foundation, is a knowledge-based inspirational brand. We communicate powerful, provocative European innovations that help tackle global challenges.
Ideas From Europe supports European entrepreneurs in providing technological solutions to global challenges (SDGs). We accomplish this by putting entrepreneurs in the spotlight and connecting them to networks, communities, and relevant stakeholders.
WENNOVATE
WEnnovate is on a mission to ignite innovation and create a lasting impact in a world facing huge energy challenges. Recognising the critical link between the energy and digital sectors, we work towards a fair, affordable, and renewable energy system. Our partners from Hungary, Slovakia, Ukraine, and the Netherlands commit all their power to sustainable and socially responsible solutions. To develop insights on gaps, missing actors and best practices in the innovation ecosystems we establish an overview of entrepreneurs with digital and deep tech solutions in our target ecosystems (Hungary, the Netherlands, Slovakia and Ukraine). We want to co-create and co-design joint long-term action plans to strengthen the innovation performance of our economy by interconnecting digital and deep tech ecosystems.
NATURE FIRST
Nature FIRST is a project funded by the European Commission with the aim to reverse the decline of biodiversity, in Europe and beyond, through a data-driven strategy that combines ecology sciences, environmental forensics and environmental observations.
The core of the Nature FIRST project is a data-driven approach to protecting biodiversity. Our main challenges are to achieve near real-time biodiversity monitoring, to detect changes and trends in a very early stage, and to translate predictions into actionable and timely interventions.
We are working with four nature reserves spread over five countries: Ancares-Courel in Spain, Danube Delta in Romania, Maramures Transboundary Area in Romania and Ukraine, and the Stara Planina Mountain in Bulgaria. These field sites face problems which can also be found all over Europe in Natura 2000 sites. These include – but are not limited to – habitat loss and fragmentation, fire, human-wildlife conflicts, poaching, and other related issues.
ENERGY SCALE-UP
Energy Scale-Up is an initiative under the Sustainable Scale-Up Foundation and a collaborative force of organisations that unites to accelerate a resilient energy transition for business parks.
The ongoing operations of companies are presently facing challenges due to the rapid succession of negative developments within the energy sector. Both energy and transport capacity are gradually decreasing. Simultaneously, the business community is confronted with a substantial sustainability mandate that places additional demands on this capacity.
The non-commercial, independent activities of Energy Scale-Up centre on tackling grid congestion in the Netherlands and fostering stakeholder collaboration as renewable energy adoption surges. Energy Scale-Up achieves this by offering guidance, knowledge sharing, and coalition building through events.

WILDLIFE FORENSIC FUND
The Wildlife Forensic Fund (WFF) is driven by the urgent need to combat the alarming rise of wildlife crime across the globe.
Our mission is to disrupt the operations of wildlife criminals by bringing together knowledge, expertise, and capacity to foster collaboration and innovation. We are dedicated to empowering rangers worldwide with the necessary training and tools to enhance their capabilities as frontline defenders and take evidence to court.
As part of our commitment, WFF raises funds for research, organises seminars, and grants scholarships to students and rangers, allowing them to learn about wildlife forensics at the world’s first Wildlife Forensic Academy. Starting with our valuable partners in South Africa, we are aiming to reach every corner of the world to establish a comprehensive global wildlife forensic infrastructure.
SMART DISTANCE LAB
The Smart Distance Lab conducts scientific research into the effect of measures that can prevent the spread of corona at public locations. In collaboration with scientists, designers, technology companies and progressive public locations, the effect of existing and innovative measures is investigated.
