We build networks, design and implement projects around 4 themes:
Data Sharing, Energy Transition,
Bio-based Economy and Wildlife Forensics

facilitating collaboration & data sharing

  • Flagship Programme 'Ideas from Europe'

    #running

Open innovation platform for impactful solutions, aligned with ESG standards. Since 2015, we have acted as a broker for impact entrepreneurs to link them to the right networks and initiatives at an early stage.

  • Digital Twins for Regions and Cities

    #inprogress

Regional partnerships are perfect for developing a digital twin. The TwinTwente project leverages the benefits of close communication, shared goals and strong involvement of communities to roll out digital twins – real-time digital replications of the physical assets – to streamline processes and offer a shared vision for the future.

  • Behavioural Interventions on Social Distancing

    #finished

A series of research studies conducted during test events to explore innovative solutions for preventing the spreading of the COVID-19 virus. Within the Smart Distance Lab project, we co-developed strategies for designing events and spaces that minimise the risk of virus transmission.

energy transition

  • Energy Hubs

    #running

A project established by ‘Ideas from Europe’ to stimulate innovation into new forms of collaboration on the electricity gird and contribute to energy transition in business parks. We organise events, share knowledge, keep track of energy hubs and grid congestion cases for businesses across the Netherlands.

  • Digital Energy Innovations in Europe

    #finished

The EU-funded project WEnnovate to develop joint action plans to drive the energy transition towards a green, sustainable, and locally empowered energy system. We worked with partners across the Netherlands, Hungary, Slovakia, Ukraine, and at the EU level.

  • Better Energy Systems in the Built Environment

    #inprogress

We aim to improve the integration of energy innovations in housing, making them transparent and accessible. By offering a methodology and a set of tools, the BIES project will ensure that residents can effectively use new energy systems in ways that align with their lifestyle.

  • Climate Impact of Hydrogen

    #finished

Being a clean energy source, hydrogen presents significant potential. However, its production is energy-intensive, and its propensity for leakage poses a challenge and contributes to global warming. In collaboration with EDF, we raised awareness about climate effects of hydrogen deployment.

  • Network of energy hubs frontrunners

Through monthly meetings, we are creating a platform for sharing knowledge and experience while building trust to openly exchange concerns, ideas, and insights on developing energy hubs.

  • Community of Practice

In cooperation with the Province of South Holland, we are organising five Communities of Practice to share knowledge and best practices about energy hubs and connect stakeholders.

carbon removals & bio-based economy

  • Establishing Traceable Carbon Sequestration

    #inprogress

The project focuses on establishing fast-growing tree plantations in the EU. The expertise in cultivating Paulownia trees is combined with the advanced tech solution for monitoring the growth and issuing carbon credits. We collaborate with land owners and farmers to establish plantations and connect them with carbon credit and bio-based building materials markets.

biodiversity & wildlife forensics

  • Tech and Forensics for Monitoring Biodiversity

    #running

Together with the consortium of 11 partners, we aim to achieve near real-time biodiversity monitoring for nature conservation. Within the EU-funded Nature FIRST project, we combine knowledge of ecology sciences, wildlife forensics and environmental observations to develop ecosystem monitoring tools.

  • Next Generation of Forensic Experts

    #running

An innovative project for university students developed within the Nature FIRST project. It connects students, academics and field experts to develop practical forensic tools to address wildlife and environmental crimes.

  • European Wildlife Forensic Network

A Pan-European member organisation uniting stakeholders within wildlife forensics. It will provide access to the database of members, resources, toolkits, and networking opportunities within wildlife forensics.

  • Research Centre for Agriculture and Wildlife

    #inprogress

A global research and training hub for scientists, students and rangers for conducting research projects to advance wildlife (forensic) science.

  • Protecting Rhinos with Nuclear Science

    #running

An innovative solution that merges nuclear technology with environmental conservation efforts to incorporate radioactive markers into rhino horns to devalue their market price and facilitate easier tracing of poached animals.
